A grand day out in Derby - by Daniel Willis

Jun 8, 2008 A few weekends ago PokerRoom.com had the pleasure of meeting up with some very dedicated players as the Pokah on Tour guys met up with each other, once again in the lovely city of Derby. With players from all over the UK and others making the journey from as far afield as Holland, Norway, Switzerland and Germany this was bound to be a great day.

And for the second time PokerRoom.com was with them to take in all the action and throw a few goodies to the players. Just prior to the event though PokerRoom spared no expense by taking a bunch of the guys out for lunch at 'Little Frankie’s' down on Cornmarket Street.

After a fine meal it was straight to the casino! The location, the Mint Casino, a very lively place where the whole gang met up to spend an enjoyable afternoon and evening together mixing lively banter with some serious poker action at the tables.

Splitting the day up into an afternoon of quick fired turbo’s first, followed by the more serious evening’s tournament.

Some poker and some bad stories later the whole gang was treated to a gourmet buffet put on especially by the great guys at the Mint Casino and then it was time for the evening’s main tournament.

At every party there’s always one, and KLFM was that one unfortunately. Being the first out of the main event wins him the Donkey Prize a custom made T-shirt to commemorate the occasion forever and ever, rumor is he’s still wearing it.

The play continued on and on, however some obvious chip dumping between the PokerRoom.com reps didn’t help either out to be either of them, tut tut! The final table ended up looking like this:

With some seriously frantic and at times mad play the crowd went wild and the pack was whittled down and down till there were just two standing. A heads-up battle between Angel52 xx and Brownie1958 back and fore they both went with a lot of pride obviously at stake here.

However there can obviously be only one winner and when Angel52 xx went all in holding 8s 3s to Brownie1958s A2 and the board reading 2,3,4,10 and yes an 8! Angel52 was no fallen angel this night.

So Angel52 xx wins this round of Pokah on Tour, and scores some serious PokerRoom.com loot and goodies as well as a couple of big tickets thrown in for good measure. Everyone on the final table also got a generous ticket put in their accounts so in a way you’re all winners’ guys! Well done on another great event guys especially volchex and _simon_ for making it all possible! and thanks so much for having us!
