dzigo and england5 Make Their Last Minute Reservations for Las Vegas - By Seth Shafer

Jun 19, 2008 Sunday June 15th marked the last chance for players to nab a spot on team PokerRoom.com for the 2008 WSOP, and the online finals that day was a doozy, with registration opened up so that two players would be guaranteed to win $17,500 prize packages when the dust finally settled.

96 players turned out for the online finals on Sunday, and early leaders included MaxiSabsi, _Sandm4n_, and dzigo. Here are how the five remaining players stacked up, with everyone’s eyes firmly focused on finishing in the top 2 spots:

Seat 1: england5 ($70,105 in chips)
Seat 3: mr. braun ($22,868 in chips)
Seat 5: _Sandm4n_ ($49,791 in chips)
Seat 8: dzigo ($123,016 in chips)
Seat 10: mr. capm ($22,220 in chips)

mr. braun would exit in 5th (worth $2,600) when he was short-stacked and forced to shove with Qh Jd but ran into dzigo’s Ah Jc.

mr. capm was the next to fall in 4th ($3,900) with his pocket queens unable to hold up against _Sandm4n_’s Kh Jh, with all of the money going in pre-flop and a king on the flop settling matters.

That left just three players alive, and two $17,500 WSOP trip packages up for grabs:

Seat 1: england5 ($93,105 in chips)
Seat 5: _Sandm4n_ ($65,011 in chips)
Seat 8: dzigo ($129,884 in chips)

Someone had to be the odd man out, and on this day that person unfortunately was _Sandm4n_. He played an open-ended straight draw on the flop hard and fast but dzigo looked him up with just overcards (dzigo held Ah Kc and _Sandm4n_ Ks 7s on a 6h 4s 5c flop), and dzigo’s A high proved enough to take down the hand when _Sandm4n_ missed his outs.

_Sandm4n_ collected $6,500 for his 3rd lace finish, with dzigo and england5 each taking home a $17,500 prize package for their 1st and 2nd place finishes.
