How to Book Your Trip to PokerIsland - By Seth Shafer

Aug 15, 2008 The action is in full swing at PokerIsland, with two players already reserving a seat in the grand finale tournament scheduled for late October that awards a $100,000 pro sponsorship deal to the lucky winner.

What exactly is PokerIsland? It’s one of PokerRoom’s new promotions that’s an incredible mix of sun, luxury, and poker. If you manage to win a spot on PokerIsland, you’ll be flown to the private villa and treated like royalty while you’re there, with no detail overlooked to ensure you have an amazing time.

The catch? Well, if you want to stay on PokerIsland you’ll have to prove you know your way around a poker table. Not only do you have to play your way onto PokerIsland but you’ll have to play to stay, as a weekly elimination tournament is held that sends the two bottom players home, packing their bags.

The weekly elimination tournament is also your ticket to reserving a seat in the grand finale tournament in late October, which is where the real payoff is. Up for grabs in the final is a poker pro sponsorship deal worth more than $100,000, which includes being sponsored for the following live events:

Aussie Millions: $20,000 package (including buy-in, airfare, and hotel)
WPT Championship: $30,000 package (including buy-in, airfare, and hotel)
WSOP: $20,000 package (including buy-in, airfare, hotel, and hotel)
WSOP Europe: $30,000 package (including buy-in, airfare, and hotel)

That’s a potentially huge prize up for grabs, especially for serious poker players, as not only would you get to play four of the biggest live poker event in the world, but could easily parlay a big cash in one of those events into a full-time poker career. While the sun and fun aspect of PokerIsland might not be the thing that appeal some the serious poker players in the crowd, the final prize should definitely grab your attention.

There are various ways to qualify to get to PokerIsland, including daily freerolls that feed into online finals, as well as qualifying through cash game play. Each week features a different cash game qualification hand; if you have that hand while playing cash games you’re automatically qualified for an online final that will send the winner to PokerIsland.

This week’s cash game qualification is:

Week 9 – Crack Aces with Broadway, the biggest of straights!
Your Ace to Ten straight beats your opponents pocket aces Must be playing Texas Hold ’em Ring Games for Real Money. You must use both cards in your hand. Your hand must showdown and win. There must be at least 3 players seated in the hand.
