BLACKJACK RULES

Overview

Casino Blackjack is a table game which uses 2 standard decks of 52 cards each. The Jokers are never used during the table game of Blackjack, and are excluded from the pack.

Our online Blackjack stands out from the rest because of the ability to play up to five boxes (hands) per round against the house (dealer). This adds an exciting edge to the game.

The object of the game Blackjack is to get your hand as near to or exactly the value of 21 without going bust (this means the total of your cards exceed the value 21, thus busting you from the round), and to beat the dealer's dealt hand. Should you tie with the dealer, a push will occur, which means that your bet is returned to your chip stack. A winning box pays the placed bet 1:1.

All dealt picture cards hold the value 10. The number cards rank 2-10 and always count as face value. The aces can be used as either 1 or 11, an important part of Blackjack strategy.

A hand made up of an Ace and any 10 card on the first deal is invariably called Blackjack. The hand is paid the bet 3:2 unless the dealer should also achieve Blackjack under the same circumstances, in which case the hand results in a push (tie) and the bet is returned.

Blackjack features

1.Insurance

If the dealer's visible card is an Ace, the player can take the opportunity to buy some 'insurance' by betting an additional 0.5 times of the original bet. If the dealer hits a Blackjack, the player's original bet loses, but the insurance wins 2 to 1 to even the result. Thus, the insurance win covers the loss of the original bet. If the dealer does not make a Blackjack, the insurance bet is lost and play proceeds.

2.Even money

A player being dealt a Blackjack whilst the dealer turns an Ace is offered the chance to go for Even Money. This reduces the wining odds from 3:2 to 1:1, but does not risk a push if the dealer also makes a Blackjack. This Even Money option only occurs when the dealer has an Ace.

3.Splitting

A player who is dealt two cards of the same value is entitled to 'split' the cards (by clicking SPLIT), double their first bet, and play two hands at the same time. The first hand is then dealt a second card. The player has to decide whether to STAND or HIT. Once the player has finished the first hand, the second hand is played in the same fashion. After the player is satisfied with both hands play continues to the next box. Note: A Blackjack can never result from a split.

4.Double down

The player has the option to double the bet (by clicking on the DOUBLE button) after seeing the initial two cards. Only one additional card - no more, no less - has to be taken in order to complete the hand.

Rules

There are, of course, countless regional variations on how the game of Blackjack is played. We try to provide the optimal rules, as described in house rules.

Online Blackjack - HOUSE RULES

Two decks of cards are used, which are always shuffled prior to every single round. The dealer receives two initial cards; these cards are dealt as follows: one card is dealt face up, the other card face down. The dealer must HIT on 16 or lower, and always STAND on 17 or higher. If the dealer gets an initial face up Ace, you can INSURE. If you have been dealt a Blackjack, you may go for EVEN MONEY instead. You are allowed to double down on any two initial cards, except if you hit Blackjack. You can split on any equally valued cards, but you cannot re-split after this. When splitting Aces, only one additional card is allowed.

TABLE OPTIONS

Always think before you select a particular table, consider the options shown for each table - they can make up an integral part of the game play:
Table speed: normal (should be used for beginners) or fast (experienced players can take this option)
Type of money: real money or play money (very important)
Bet limits: low or high. These are important, as they determine how much money can be placed on bets.

CHOOSING A TABLE

Simply double clicking on a table name in the table list will immediately take you to the desired table. You can toggle features to only view free tables.

SELECTING A SEAT

Simply click on your desired seat at the table. You will be immediately seated at the table and the game will begin.

BRINGING MONEY TO THE TABLE

Enter an amount of money you would like to bring to the table, then click OK. Your chip stack will then be created, allowing you to place bets freely.

Game play

Play takes place against a computerized automated dealer.

You bet by pushing chips from your chip rack on to the table. Simply click on one of the chips in your rack, then click on the table circle, this places your bet. Repeat this action as often as you wish. To remove a bet, simply right click on any bet you’ve already placed (Ctrl + click for Mac users).

Click DEAL. The dealer is dealt two cards (one is face up and the other card is face down), and the player is dealt two cards in each box (both cards face up). This is called the initial deal.

From the initial face up cards, the player can make two basic choices: A HIT is used to receive another card to add to the player's two face up cards, and a STAND is used to pass on the turn to the next box. Options aside from these two choices can be located in the Features section.

A decision to HIT could result in a bust, or should you be under 21, in another decision to HIT or STAND. You can keep hitting new cards until you feel you are satisfied with your efforts to reach 21.

When all player boxes have had their turn, the dealer flips the second initial card (the one dealt face down). Based on the total amount of the two cards, the dealer acts according to a fixed set of rules: if the dealer's total is less than 17 the house will automatically draw (deal themselves another card); if the dealer's total is 17 or above, the house must always stand.

The winnings are automatically added to your stack, ready to be used in further beating rounds, or to cash out. If you would like to play another round using an identical bet, simply click RE-BET and follow that with DEAL. Should you want to vary your betting, simply place a new bet. This will allow you to select the denomination of your new bet.

Play example

  • Box 1: K+9 = 19
  • Box 2: 7+5 = 12
  • Box 3: J+3 = 13

Dealer: 9+X

  • Box 1 has 19 and stands.
  • Box 2 has 12 and hits – receiving a 10 for a total of 22. Bust!
  • Box 3 has 13 and hits also. Third card is an 8 for a total of 21.

Dealer flips the second initial deal card revealing a 10 and a total of 19 and must stand.

Box 1 PUSH (bet returned). Box 2 LOSS (bet lost). Box 3 WIN (bet pays 1 to 1).
