FREEZEOUT TOURNAMENTS

Freezeout

A term, or buy-in rule, used to state that a tournament does not feature re-buys or add-ons. This rule means that if a player loses all his chips in a tournament, he cannot in any way re-enter the tournament.

Since this is by far the most common set of buy-in rules for a tournament, most freezeouts are not even labelled as freezeouts. If nothing else is stated, a tournament, be it a scheduled or a Sit & Go one, is a freezeout.
